E-Briefs

The ebrief or electronic brief is a legal industry term that describes two different electronic documents.  The first is a hyperlinked version of a court filing -- usually a brief or motion.  Most often, these electronic filings are submitted days or weeks after a paper filing.  The second is a brief filed with the court in electronic form.  Each has similarities insomuch as they are essentially hyperlinked pdf documents, however the first type -- the e-brief -- is often a rather complex document with links to tens of thousands of cites, exhibits, cases or other documents.
